Jerry Miller

Jerry Miller, age 59, of Huron, died Sunday, August 29, 2010, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.  His funeral service was at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, September 1st at the Huron Christian Church with the Rev. Al Wager officiating.  Burial was in the Highmore City Cemetery.

Jerry Miller was born May 29, 1951, to Clyde D. and Beryl Sarah Jane (Gates) Miller at Wessington Springs.  He grew up in the Wessington area, and graduated from Wessington Springs High School in 1969.  Jerry then attended and graduated from Northern State University.

Jerry opened and co-operated Quality Quick Print Inc. and Midstates Printing Inc. from 1980 until 2002.  On June 25, 1994, Jerry married Janell Houdek in Aberdeen.   Jerry and Janell moved to Huron in 2002, where they lived until his passing.   He most recently worked for the Center for Independence, and found this career very rewarding.

Jerry was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and boating.  He was also a committed Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Janell Miller of Huron; three children, Landon Miller of Huron, Amy (John) Ackerson of West Plains, Missouri, and Amber Miller of Los Gatos, California; two grandchildren, Jacob and Evan Ackerson; one brother, Don (Anita) Miller of Aberdeen; one uncle, Don Gates of England; his father and mother-in-law, Bob and Janice Houdek of Highmore; four brothers-in-law,  Tim (Cheryl) Houdek of Sioux Falls, Terry Houdek of Mitchell, Rob (Diane) Houdek of Spearfish, and Randy (Deb) Houdek of Highmore; and many nieces and nephews.
