Jerome Thurnbeck

Jerome Thurnbeck, age 70, of Huron, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.  His funeral mass was celebrated at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 11th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church by Rev. Terry Anderson.  

Jerome Francis Thurnbeck was born February 24, 1942, to Francis J. and Della (Dufresne) Thurnbeck at Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up at Wyoming, Minnesota, on the family turkey farm, and graduated from Forest Lake High School.  After high school, Jerry joined the United States Navy and served for four years.  He then attended St. Cloud State where he graduated with a bachelor of science in Industrial Engineering.

On September 3, 1966, Jerry married JoAnne Yencho at Columbia Heights, Minnesota.  They moved to San Jose, California where Jerry worked for Control Data.  He continued to work for Control Data and was transferred to Rochester, Michigan and then Arden Hills, Minnesota.  Jerry then worked for Ball Electronics at Arden Hills, Solid Controls at St. Paul, and Water Gremlin at White Bear.  In 1992, Jerry began his work with Wilbrecht in Huron, where he was the Plant Manager until he retired in 2007.

Jerry was a member Holy Trinity Catholic Church.  He was also a member of Propbusters, where he enjoyed flying radio controlled airplanes.  Jerry also liked golfing, hunting, fishing and camping while his health allowed.  Jerry’s most cherished time was spent spoiling his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, JoAnne of Huron; one daughter and her husband, Kimberly and William Charette of Crystal, Minnesota; two grandchildren, Emily and Alexander Charette; two sisters, Patricia (Donald) LaCasse of Wyoming, Minnesota and Judith Stringer of Mahtomedi, Minnesota; one brother, Robert (Becky) Thurnbeck of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.
