Jane Nelson

Jane Nelson, age 55, of Huron, died Sunday, December 5, 2010, at her home.  Her funeral service was at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 8th, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Rick Senner and Rev. Al Wager officiating.

Jane Kay Nelson was born May 19, 1955, to Harland and Norma (Lockwood) Nelson at Huron.  Jane was baptized in the Lutheran faith and was confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in 1970. She graduated from Huron High School and Huron University.

Jane worked at the Barn Restaurant for many years.  She also worked for the United States Postal Service for a number of years before she took early retirement due to ill health.

Jane loved animals. She was very proud of her two horses that she rode and cared for in her youth.  Jane also loved dogs and cats and took in many homeless animals throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; and one sister-in-law, Joan Nelson.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her children, Christopher Nelson and Emily Nelson both of Huron; step-son, Bronson Woodhouse of Huron; nine grandchildren, Clay Folkerts, Jade Woodhouse, Devin Woodhouse, Damon Marvel, Christopher H. Nelson, Ivory M. Jenson, Joseph N. Jenson II,  Mariah Shearer and Tesla Cheek; four siblings, James Nelson of Huron, Julie (Robert) Lubke of Sioux Falls, Jeffrey Nelson of Huron and Joel (Amy) Nelson of Huron; and many nieces and nephews.
