James Cavigielli

James Cavigielli, age 79, of Huron, died Monday, May 31, 2010, at Sanford USD Medical Center.  His memorial service was at 2:30 PM Thursday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donald Crippen officiating.

James Larou Cavigielli was born April 11, 1931, to James W. and Wanelda (Sherman) Cavigielli on a farmstead north of Howard, South Dakota.  He graduated from Argonne High School.

On June 18, 1960, he married Nyla Leighton at Madison.  She passed away July 5, 1995.  On May 29, 1999, he married Lorene (Jenner) Wahl. 

Jim farmed on the family farm north of Howard until his retirement in 1999, when he moved to Huron. 

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Sonshine Squad and Men’s breakfast group, Adult Day Care Board and Beadle County Birdwatchers. 

He especially looked forward to spending time with his family, and loved to bowl, fish, camp, read, dance and help with church mailings.

He is survived by his wife Lorene, of Huron; his children, Linda (Matt) Parsley, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, James (Denise) Cavigielli, of Dell Rapids, and Gary (Cathy) Cavigielli, of Howard; his stepchildren, Laurie (Randy) McMillan, of Huron, Christopher Wahl, of Lane, and Stacy Wahl (Dean Seanor), of Paynesville, Minnesota; his grandchildren, Ian, Madelin and Lucas Parsley, Benjamin, Kyle, Samuel and Adah Cavigielli, Melissa, Tyler, Ethan and Jessica Cavigielli, Donovan and Kaitlynn Kullnat, and Amanda McMillan; his sisters, Maxine (Don) Jensen, of Hot Springs, and Barb (Jim) Kern, of Shiner, Texas; and his brother-in-law, Bruce Gillam of Mitchell.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Nyla; his sister, Marilyn Gillam; his parents; and his stepfather, Howard Rentschler.
