Jackie J. Ransom

Jackie J. Ransom, age 73, of Huron, and formerly of rural Wessington, died Wednesday, March 5, 2008, of complications from cancer, at the Sanford-USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.  Her funeral mass was celebrated at 1:30 PM Monday, March 10th, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church by Father Terry Anderson.  Burial was in the St. Martin’s Cemetery.  

Jackie Ransom was born March 19, 1934, at Huron, to Fred and Mae (Woodle) Kirby.  She attended St. Theresa’s School through the ninth grade and graduated from Huron High School in 1952.

She married Larry Ransom in Huron on February 27, 1954.  They farmed in rural Wessington for most of their life and moved to Huron following their retirement.  Her life was centered around her children and grandchildren, and praising the Lord. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Leah Callahan, Mary “Carmel” Williams, Mavis “Peach” Hilliard, and one brother, Brother Benedict Duane Kirby.

She is survived by her loving husband Larry, of Huron; her children, David Ransom of Huron, Kim Knutson of Huron, Vaughn Ransom of Wessington Springs, Paulette (Twigg) Wehrmann of Huron, and Connie (Jeff) Raaen of Huron; fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and one brother, Darrell Kirby of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
