Irvin Tschetter

Irvin Tschetter, age 80, of rural Huron, died Sunday morning, December 12, 2010, at his home.  His funeral service was at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 15th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.

Irvin was born June 8, 1930 at Bridgewater, South Dakota to John S. and Anna (Hofer) Tschetter.  He grew up there and received his education in rural schools. 

He moved to Huron in the fifties and began working at Armour Meat Packing.  Irvin met Mary Kay Clarambeau at Independence Day festivities on July 4, 1955.  They were married April 23, 1960 at St. Martin Catholic Church in Huron.  Shortly after their marriage they made their home at their farm east of Huron.  Irvin farmed as well as worked at Armour’s and particularly enjoyed raising cattle.  He retired from Armour’s in 1983. 

Irvin enjoyed visiting with others and attending his children’s and grandchildren’s activities.  His family was everything to him. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Alvin. 

Survivors include his wife, Mary Kay of Huron; three children and their spouses, Wayne and Deb Tschetter of Huron, Jim and Carol Tschetter of Huron and Rita and Keith Schile of Aberdeen; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three sisters, Viola (Alex) Burham of Fayetteville, Ohio, Elsie Bradley of Spearfish, and Rose (Ed) Johnson of Lennox; and four brothers, Dick Tschetter and John Tschetter, both of Bridgewater, Don “Jake” (Mae) Tschetter of Huron, and Robert Tschetter of Vermillion.
