Ilene Cooper obit photoIlene Lorraine Cooper, age 57, of Huron, died Sunday, April 5, 2009, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.  Her memorial service was at 11:00 AM, Thursday, April 9th at the American Lutheran Church with the Rev. Steven Brandsrud officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Christian Learning Center or HRMC Hospice.

Ilene Lorraine Anderson was born December 10, 1951, to Harry and Ila (Moe) Anderson at Huron, South Dakota.  She graduated from Huron High School in 1970.  On January 29, 1971, Ilene married Kent Cooper in Huron. The couple made their home in Huron and raised three daughters, Lesley, Amanda and Sarah.

Ilene was a lifelong member of American Lutheran Church.  She worked at Norwest Bank for nearly ten years before retiring to raise her family.  Ilene served on the YWCA board and the Christian Learning Center board.  She was also a   member of Beta Sigma Phi. Ilene  enjoyed spending time with her family and especially with her nine granddaughters.

Ilene was truly loved by many and will be deeply missed by all.  Grateful for her time and life shared are her husband, Kent of Huron; her daughters and their husbands, Lesley and Donny Schoenhard, Jr. of Huron, Amanda and Gary DeJong, Jr. of Huron, and Sarah and Jesse Johnson of Sioux Falls; nine granddaughters, Maren, Grace, Claire and Elin Schoenhard, Madison, Mackenzie, Abbie and Emma DeJong, and Kate Johnson; her mother, Ila Anderson of Huron; her step-mother, Elaine Anderson of Fargo, North Dakota; two brothers and their wives, Craig and Karen Anderson of Forestburg and Billie and Margo Anderson of Huron; one sister and her husband, Barb and Chuck Hoffman; her father-in-law, Ralph Cooper of Huron; two brothers-in-law and their wives, Larry and Carole Cooper of Huron and Scott and Anna Cooper of Vergas, Minnesota; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and   cousins.

Ilene was preceded in death by her father; her mother-in-law, Betty Cooper; and her grandparents.
