Mandel, age 94, of Huron, died Thursday evening, January 28, 2010, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home.  Her funeral service was at 2:00 PM Monday, February 1st at the Emmanuel Church, rural Doland, with the Rev. Gordon Wiebe officiating.  Burial will be in the Emmanuel Church Cemetery.

Ida A. Hofer was born February 28, 1915, to Andrew E. and Barbara (Tschetter) Hofer at Freeman.  She was baptized on September 14, 1930, by Rev. J.W. Kleinsasser.  She moved with her parents to the Doland area in 1919.

On June 5, 1935, Ida married Jacob E. Mandel at Bethel Church, rural Yale.  They moved to Watertown in 1941, and back to the Doland area in 1945.   She moved to Huron on September 14, 1998.  The last four and one-half years she had been a resident of the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jacob on November 17, 2005; two brothers, Ernest and Andy Hofer; four brothers-in-law, Martin Pullman, Henry Gross, Arlie Amdahl, and Joey Mandel; and three sisters- in-law, Susie Pullman, Rose Mandel and Adella Mandel.

Grateful for having shared her life are her three sons and their wives, Norman and Arla Mandel, Darwin and Aileen Mandel and Jerome and Nyla Mandel, all of Huron; eight grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; thirteen great great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Eli Mandel of Tempe, Arizona; four sisters-in-law, Edna Mae Hofer of Huron and Anna Hofer of Yale, Elizabeth Gross of Volga and Barbara Amdahl of Milbank; and several nieces and nephews.
