Gwendolyn Stahl

Gwendolyn Stahl, age 96, of Huron, died Saturday, January 23, 2010, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Private burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with her son, Rev. Daryl Stahl as officiant. Memorials may be directed to the Huron First United Methodist Church Foundation. 

Gwendolyn Amelia Frahm was born July 20, 1913, to John and Bertha (Hintz) Frahm, at Manchester.  She grew up at Manchester and received her education in Manchester and Iroquois.

 On December 23, 1931, Gwen married Edward H. Stahl at the Methodist parsonage in De Smet.  Following their marriage, they farmed north of Yale until 1938, at which time they moved to Yale and went into the Mobil Oil business.  In 1944, they moved to Huron and owned and operated Stahl’s Service until 1968.

 Gwen had been a member of the First United Methodist Church for over fifty years.  She also enjoyed playing bridge.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward on October 15. 2003; two sons, Dale and Dean Stahl; one great-grandson, Christopher Stahl; one sister, Lucille; and five brothers, Earl, Clifford, Leonard, Lester and Donald Frahm.

 Grateful for having shared her life are her four sons, Dick (Rose) Stahl of Sioux Falls, Denny (Linda) Stahl of Grand Junction, Colorado, Rev. Daryl (Ann) Stahl of Providence, Rhode Island and Darwin (Elizabeth) Stahl of Las Cruces, New Mexico; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Stahl of Cedar Hill, Texas; twelve grandchildren, Robert, Thomas,  Michael, Andrew, Richard, Steven, Michael W., David, Mary, Bradley, Lori and Marilee; nineteen great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Ella Frahm of Pipestone, Minnesota.
