Gwen M. Wilson

Gwen M. Wilson, age 98, of Huron died Friday, January 4, 2008, at the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home.  She was cremated and her cremated remains were buried at the Bonilla Cemetery in May 2008.

Gwen Horn was born on September 22, 1909, at Monterey, Iowa to Delmar and Armina (Henderson) Horn.  She grew up in South Dakota, attended school at St. Lawrence and Bonilla, and graduated from Agar High School.  She played basketball while in high school.  Gwen attended Black Hills State Teachers college and taught country school in the Bonilla area.  She married Raymond Wilson, they lived in White Side Township and moved to St. Lawrence in 1945.  Gwen worked as a bookkeeper for Magness Livestock Sale Barn for twenty-five years. 

Gwen enjoyed working in her yard, was an avid reader, fishing with grandchildren.  She was also an accomplished seamstress.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Charles; a sister, Carmen Boyd; three brothers, Walter, Harold and Verlin Horn; a grandson Greg Juhl; and two great-great-granddaughters, Hope and Faith Heeren.

 Gwen is survived by her daughters, Patricia and her husband Donald Juhl of Miller, and Barbara Koonce of Huron; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Hazzard of Huron; and one daughter-in-law, Marlene Wilson of Huron.
