Gregory Yapp

Gregory Yapp, 63, of Huron, died Saturday, December 8, 2012, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.  His funeral service was at Noon Friday, December 14 at Talbot Family Funeral Home in Alma, Wis.  Burial was in the city cemetery in Buffalo City, Wis.  A prayer service was held at 7 pm Wednesday at the Kuhler Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Anderson officiating. 

Gregory Yapp was born December 1, 1949, to Robert and Carol (Lankey) Yapp in Madison, Wis. 

He graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

He married Linda Salwey on June 21,1975, in Waumandee, Wis.

Greg was a resource conservationist for the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service, retiring on December 31, 2010.  He currently was a board member for the M-O Federal Credit Union of Huron.

Greg was an avid golfer, and enjoyed hunting and being the tree trimmer for the family farm. Spending time at the farm with family and friends was his idea of a perfect vacation.  

Before moving to Huron, he and his family lived in Sioux Falls, White River, Miller, Howard, and Herreid.  Greg was a volunteer firefighter in Herreid for 13 years.  

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert and parents-in-law, Lloyd and Donna Salwey.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Linda of Huron; four children, Alanna (Kurt Joy) Seidel of Miller, Brenda (Mike) Harvey of Spearfish, Christina (Chad Bult) Yapp of Sioux Falls and Jason Yapp of Sioux Falls; five grandchildren, Haley, Deegan, Shayla, Braeden and Michaela; his mother, Carol Yapp of Alma, Wis.; two brothers, Steve (Linda) Yapp of West Bend, Wis. and Douglas (Joyce Russell) Yapp of Independence, Wis.; and one sister, Michelle Egland of Lewiston, Minn.
