Gerald “Jerry” Rahskopf

Gerald “Jerry” Rahskopf, age 69, of Apache Junction, Arizona, died Monday, February 28, 2011, at the Banner Baywood Heart Hospital in Apache Junction.  A private family service was held. Burial was in the Riverside Memorial Cemetery in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Gerald “Jerry” William Rahskopf was born February 21, 1942, to William and Ida (Dietrich) Rahskopf, in Aberdeen.  He was raised on a farm southeast of Aberdeen.  Jerry was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Aberdeen.  He was also a 4-H member.  Jerry graduated from Warner High School in 1961.  Upon graduation, Jerry worked in Aberdeen for several years before moving to Bismarck, North Dakota and then onto Gillette, Wyoming.  Upon retirement, he made his home in Apache Junction, Arizona.  Jerry loved to hunt, fish, and watch sports.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ida Rahskopf, and one sister, Darlene Geranen.

He loved his family and is survived by his special partner, Joann Peplinski of Apache Junction, Arizona; five children, Troy Rahskopf of Yankton, South Dakota, Rhonda Mehling of Huron, South Dakota, Lynnel (Sam) Wurtz of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Traci (Jeff) Ritchie of Gillette, Wyoming, and Todd Rahskopf of Gillette, Wyoming; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Sharon Keller of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Marlette (Art) Fischbach of Pierre, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews.
