Eugene McClain obituary photoEugene McClain, age 87, of Huron, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.  Graveside services were held at 10:30 AM Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Pastor Marion Cain officiating and military rites by the Huron Veterans Council. 

Eugene McClain was born December 12, 1922, at Fresno, California to Jesse and Beryl (Pritchard) McClain.  He grew up in Taft, California and served in the US Navy for two years in the early 1940s. 

He spent most of his adult life as a beekeeper.  He started out in the Lemoore, California area where he raised his family.  In 1961, he moved to South Dakota, settling in Huron in 1963, where he owned the McClain Honey Farm now operated by his son George McClain.  He loved traveling and had seen a lot of the world.

Eugene married Gloria Marpa from the Philippines on May 6, 1997, at Las Vegas, Nevada.  They enjoyed many traveling adventures and fun times together.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mildred of 53 years, and his brother Tom. 

Grateful for having shared his life are his survivors, including his wife, Gloria; his sons, Larry of Omaha, Nebraska, and George and his wife Deborah of Huron; one daughter, Norma and her husband James Nugent of Reno, Nevada; also five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several stepchildren; and many friends.  He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
