Eugene Kingdon obituaryr photoEugene Kingdon, age 101, of Huron, died Thursday, December 6, 2012, at SunQuest Healthcare Center.  His funeral service was at 2 PM Tuesday, December 11th at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Holland officiating.  Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery.  The family prefers memorials be directed to the Beadle County Area Nutrition (Meals On Wheels).

Eugene Kingdon was born September 15, 1911, to Henry and Elsie (Pidge) Kingdon near Hitchcock.  In 1916, the family moved to Huron where Eugene lived the rest of his life.  He attended grade school and high school at Huron and graduated from Huron College in 1933.

On December 25, 1936, he married Edythe Snow at Huron.

He was a life-long member of the First United Methodist Church in Huron, during which time he was a faithful member of the choir for over fifty years.  He will be remembered by many for his singing at numerous weddings and funerals.  Following Eugene’s retirement from Northwestern Public Service Company after forty years as an accountant, he did considerable volunteer work through the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.  Eugene volunteered at Natural Resource Conservation Services at the federal building for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edythe; his brother, Robert Kingdon; his sister Ruth Greeves; and his granddaughter, Alicia. 

Grateful for having shared his life are his two sons, Richard and his wife Lee Kingdon of Palatine, Illinois and William Kingdon of Gallup, New Mexico.
