Esther Arends obituary photoEsther R. Arends, age 75, of Huron, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at her home. Her funeral service was Friday, May 4th at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Huron with the Rev. Jonathan Boehne officiating. Burial was at the Green Hill Cemetery at Alexandria.

Esther Ruth Wipf Arends was born January 7, 1932, in Spink County near Doland, South Dakota to Sam and Susie (Pullman) Wipf. She was raised around Willow Lake and Carpenter and attended Willow Lake Public School.

She married Marvin Arends January 13, 1963, at Santa Rosa, New Mexico. They lived in Alexandria. They raised and broke ponies for driving, using them in parades and wagon trains. He preceded her in death January 25, 1985. Due to health problems she moved to Cavour in 1987, and then to Huron in 1989.

She is survived by one daughter, Lynne (Tom) Morgan of Sioux Falls; three grandsons; one great-grandson; one brother, Harold "Sam" Wipf of Huron; one sister, Joyce Huber of Mitchell; fourteen nieces and nephews; one uncle and aunt, Ruben and Darlene Pullman of Huron; one sister-in-law, Delila Wipf of Cavour; several cousins; and a special neighbor, Clara Meyers of Huron.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Marvin E. Wipf on December 23, 2000; her sister, Dorothy Putnam on September 27, 1999; two sisters in infancy; and one brother-in-law, Delton Huber, Sr.
