Ella Minear

Ella Minear, age 90, of Huron, died Friday, March 25, 2011, at StoneyBrook Suites.  Her memorial service was at 11 AM Monday, March 28th, at Mt. Olivet Church with Rev. David Erdman officiating.  Burial will be at a later date in the Iowa Center Cemetery at Maxwell, Iowa. 

Ella G. Gross was born April 7, 1920, to Jacob J.A. and Anna (Wipf) Gross, on a farm north of Huron.  She attended Huron High School.  On April 7, 1956, Ella married Howard Minear at Omaha, Nebraska.  She worked as a desk clerk at the Tams Hotel in Huron and a telephone operator and later as a data entry clerk for First Data Corporation in Omaha, Nebraska.  One of Ella’s favorite pastimes was following the Minnesota Twins on the radio or television.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Howard on January 19, 1968; two sisters, Marie Becker, and Ruth in infancy; and five brothers, Elmer Gross, Daniel Gross, James Gross, and Benjamin and Roy in infancy.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her son, Lee (Laurie) Minear, of Castle Rock, Colorado; one granddaughter, Michelle (Kenneth) Brougher, of Aurora, Colorado; one grandson, Michael (Suzanne) Minear, of Hudson, Colorado; two great-grandchildren, Sierra Minear and Gunner Minear; one sister, Arlene (Jake) Diede, of Everett, Washington; one  brother-in-law, Harry Becker of Huron; and several nieces and nephews.
