Elizabeth Tschetter

Elizabeth M. Tschetter, age 92, of Huron, died Saturday, July 14, 2007 at her home. Her funeral service was at 10 AM Wednesday, July 18th, at the Mt. Olivet Mennonite Church with the Rev. David Erdman officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Olivet Church Section of Ideal Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Mt. Olivet Church building fund or HRMC Home Health/Hospice.

Elizabeth M. Kleinsasser was born May 26, 1915, at Freeman, South Dakota to John and Marie (Tschetter) Kleinsasser. She grew up in Freeman and attended country schools. On September 29, 1939, she married Alfred D. Tschetter of Freeman. Following their marriage they made their home in Huron. Elizabeth worked for Conservation Corp. C. helping with the war effort, and for the Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in laundry. She also worked for many families in Huron doing housework.

Elizabeth was a member of the Mt. Olivet Mennonite Church and loved attending services. She enjoyed making noodles, bread, pancakes, canning, and big holiday gatherings. Everyone was welcomed and felt special in her home. She was often “caught” praying out loud for her family on her knees in front of the living room couch.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; two sons, Jerry and Larry; one brother, John E.Kleinsasser and his wife Lydia; five sisters, Mrs. Herbert (Anna) Koster, Mrs. Mary (George) Hofer, Mrs. Lydia (Edward) Hofer, Mrs. Emma (Edward) Teiszen; a sister in infancy; and two nieces, Sharie and Orlean Kleinsasser.

Grateful for having shared her life are her three children, Carroll (Arlene) Tschetter, Harvey (Patricia) Tschetter, Judy (Gerald) Tschetter, all of Huron; one daughter-in-law, Lanna (Mrs. Larry Tschetter) of Hardin, Montana; sixteen grandchildren, Jay, Cindy, Annette (Robert Trebilcock), Laurie, LaDonna (Robert Clements), Linda (Chad Nelson), LaRayne (fiance Mark Quale), Shawn (Morey Trupe), Stacey (Joe Hazelton), Seth, Samantha, Sarah, Sierra, Janet (Travis Peck), James (Lisa) Tschetter, Janelle (Cory Moss); nineteen great grandchildren, Xena, Sage Trebilcock, Ben, Drew Clements, Cole, Kylee Nelson, Dylan, Garret, Austin, Madisyn Trupe, Hunter, Mollie Hazelton, Taylor, Jackson Peck, Kayla Graff, Bailey, Sydney, Abbey Tschetter, Braxton Moss; one brother-in-law, Edward Teiszen of Lead, South Dakota; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
