Eldon Minske

Eldon Minske, age 74, of Huron, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Avera-McKennan Hospital.  His funeral service was at 11 AM, Monday, May 24th, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.  Burial was in the St. Martin Catholic Cemetery with military rites by the Huron Veterans Council.

Eldon Minske was born October 27, 1935, to Reuben and Marie (Scheidegger) Minske, near Hitchcock.  He graduated from Hitchcock High School in 1953.  From 1954 to 1958, Eldon served in the United States Air Force and in the Air Force Reserve until 1962.

On December 30, 1954, Eldon married Evonne Timperley at Huron.  He was employed by several auto parts stores, retiring from Kutil’s Carquest in 2001.

Eldon served as commander of American Legion Williams Reaves Post #7 and as Chef de Gare of Voiture #530 of the 40 et 8.  He was a member of the Huron Volunteer Fire Department for 17 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Dewey Minske; and two sisters, Lorine Hofer and Luverne Minske in infancy.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife, Evonne of Huron; two sons, Doug and his wife Jody Minske, and Kevin and his wife, Jill Minske, all of Huron; one granddaughter, Marissa Minske of Huron; two brothers, Orville and his wife, Betty Minske of Wenatchee, Washington, and Delbert and his wife, Ruth Minske of Huron; two brothers-in-law, David Hofer and Ron Timperley and his wife, Barbara, all of Rapid City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
