Edwin Wyld

Edwin Wyld, age 88, of Huron, died Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at the Huron Nursing Home. His funeral service was at 2 PM Saturday, June 9th at the Hutterthal Mennonite Church, rural Carpenter, with the Rev. Matthew Stacey officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Edwin Wyld was born December 9, 1918, at Des Moines, Iowa, to Edwin and Louella (Meads) Wyld. He was baptized on March 15, 1935 at Des Moines, Iowa. Edwin graduated from high school in 1938. He also graduated from Sunnyside Bible School in Freeman. Edwin was self-employed as a landscaper and handyman.

On January 11, 1949, he married Anna Hofer at Des Moines. After they were married they did missionary work in Des Moines. They also lived in Morrison, Illinois and Chicago, Illinois. From 1959 through 1961 Edwin worked in maintenance for Drake University. They returned to the Cavour and Huron area where they retired. From 1977 through 1985, he worked for Francis Rhoads.

He is survived by his sister, Lily (Guy) Wilson of St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada; his sister-in-law, Peggy Wyld of Des Moines, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.

Edwin was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna; a brother, Ernst; and a sister, Ann.
