Edward Larson obituary photoEdward J. Larson Jr., age 80, of Huron, died on Christmas morning, December 25, 2010, at his residence.  He was born to Edward J. Larson, Sr. and Alma Berg Larson at their farm east of Bryant, South Dakota, on May 28, 1930, along with his twin sister, Edna.  He grew up on the farm and received his education at Bryant, graduating from Bryant High School.  Ed then spent a tour in the United States Navy.  Following his discharge from the Navy he returned to South Dakota and graduated from Northern State University at Aberdeen with a degree in business.

On June 6, 1959, he married Mary Gilbertson at Watertown.  Following their marriage they lived in Aberdeen where Ed was the financial manager of Owen Angels Department Store.  He then changed careers and worked for the Internal Revenue Service, receiving a transfer to Huron where he retired from the IRS.  In retirement he worked for Delay Check Loan in Huron until his health failed.  Ed was a quiet man with a wry sense of humor.  He enjoyed old westerns, fishing, gardening, playing bridge and watching birds.

Survivors include his wife, Mary of Huron; three children, Scott and his wife, Lisa of Shorewood, Minnesota, Angie and her husband, Craig Beckett of Manchester, England, and Steve of Huron; and four grandchildren, Sean, Gavin, Nik, and Tana.  He is also survived by  two sisters, Lola Schmitz of Onawa, Iowa, Lee Flagg of Danville, California; one brother, George Larson of Cambridge, Minnesota; and one sister-in-law, Carole Pagones of Sioux Falls. 

Ed was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Edna Dokken of Kansas and Ione Ryan of California.

There will be no funeral service and burial will be at a later date.
