Donna Person

Donna Person, age 67, of Huron, died Thursday, January 26, 2012, at her home.   Her funeral service was at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 31st, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Roger Noer officiating.  Burial was in the Riverside Cemetery. 

Donna Marie Swanson was born August 13, 1944, to Russell and Crystle (Nelson) Swanson at Carthage.  She grew up at Carthage and graduated from high school there.  She then attended and graduated from Sioux Valley School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1965. 

On September 18, 1965, Donna married Leroy Person at Carthage.   Following their marriage they lived in Colman, Ruthton, Minnesota, and in 1969 they moved to Huron.  Donna worked as a Registered Nurse at Madison, Pipestone, Minnesota and in Huron at the Huron Nursing Home.  She had to retire due to health issues in 1990. 

She was a member of the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and the WELCA.  Some of the things Donna enjoyed were a cool breeze on a warm day, cinnamon lattes, hymns, music, hugs from her sons, Leroy’s smile and loving care, God’s mercy, her books, her bible, her sisters, her friends, thunder, raindrops baseball hope and faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Leroy on March 19, 2008.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her three sons, Todd (Becky) Person of El Paso, Texas who have two children, Karl and Renee; Troy of Huron, and Travis of Indianapolis, Indiana; and three sisters, Patty (Gary) Junker of Redfield, Angela (Bill) Nibbelink of Flandreau, and Colette (Mark) Anderson of Carthage.
