Dennis, age 74, of Huron, died Monday, November 26, 2012, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.  His memorial service was at 10:30 AM Friday, November 30th, at the First United Methodist Church in Huron, with Rev. Mark Holland officiating, followed by military honors by the Huron Veterans Council.  Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Dean Arnet Dennis was born September 18, 1938, in Huron, South Dakota to Arthur and Bernice (Paul) Dennis.  He grew up in Doland, South Dakota and graduated from Doland High School in 1957. He attended Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota. In January 1960, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving twenty-six months in Heidelberg, Germany.

He married Alison Root on August 23, 1964, at the First United Methodist Church in Huron. Dean and Alison purchased their farm in the early seventies. He worked at Armour and Co. for sixteen years and later for Hubbard Feeds.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching sports, morning card games at the Cavour Store and helping his neighbor, Bob.

He is survived by his wife, Alison, of Huron; two sons, Darrin (Brenda) Dennis of Castalia, Iowa, and Kent Dennis of Hankinson, North Dakota; five grandchildren, Zackary, Felicia, Katie, DJ and Quentyn; a sister, Nonie (Francis) Noonan of Burnsville, Minnesota; a sister-in-law, Ada Dennis of Prior Lake, Minnesota; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sharon and Jim Scott of Niobrara, Nebraska; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; and his brother, Doyle.
