Darel Dilley obituary photoDarel Dilley, age 71, of Huron, died Monday, June 6, 2011, at his home.  His funeral service was at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 11th at the Salvation Army Church with Captain Eric Johnson officiating. Military rites were given by the Huron Veterans Council.  Burial was in the Greenlawn Cemetery at Redfield. 

Darel Dilley was born March 23, 1940, to Clark and Ora (Yetter) Dilley at Redfield.  He grew up in the Tulare, Wessington, Bonilla and Huron areas and graduated from Huron High School.

On July 23, 1963, Darel joined the United States Army at Huron.  He was honorably discharged on July 22, 1965, at Fort Riley Kansas

Darel married Joanne Hein, and they later divorced.  He then married Belva Krumm.  She later passed away.

Darel worked at Olsen Implement for many years.  He enjoyed fishing, watching the car races, working on cars, and gardening.   Darel was a lifetime member of the V.F.W.  He volunteered at the Salvation Army for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Delores.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his sister, Marlene Gamber of Huron, one niece, Roxanne Merchant of Vermillion; one nephew, Mark Gamber of Huron; one great-nephew, Joshua (Mari) Merchant of Brandon, one great-niece, Amanda Merchant of Sioux Falls; one great great-niece, Loreta Hernandez; one great great-nephew, Rayn Hernandez; and his special friend, Wenda Barber of Huron.
