Connie L. Trautman, age 66, of Wolsey, died Monday, February 23rd at Sanford University Hospital in Sioux Falls.  Her funeral service was at 10 AM Friday at the First Presbyterian Church in Wessington with Rev. Allen Sager, officiating. Burial was in the Wessington Cemetery.  The family prefers memorials in lieu of flowers. 

Connie Louise Walton was born on February 12, 1943, at Eugene, Oregon, to Dale and Donna (Oster) Walton.  She moved with her family to Wessington and graduated from Wessington High School in 1962. 

She married Richard Trautman on July 31, 1962, at the     Methodist Church in Miller.  They made their home in Wessington for 20 years and then moved to Fairfax, South Dakota and then to Cottage Grove, Oregon.  In 1991, they moved to Webster, South Dakota and in 2007 they moved to Wolsey.  Some of Connie’s   hobbies and interests were jigsaw and crossword puzzles, collecting unicorns, crocheting, and visiting with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Randy; two infant sisters, Barbara Jean and Sarah Elizabeth; one niece; and one great nephew.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband, Richard of Wolsey; seven children, Cindy (Tim) Chester of Wood River, Illinois, John Trautman of Sioux Falls, Barb Mayfield of Newcastle, Wyoming, Marc Trautman of Wolsey, Lisa Godell of Eugene,   Oregon, Chad Trautman and Randy Trautman both of Wolsey; twelve grandchildren, Amy (Daniel) File, Brian Chester, Rebekah Trautman, Emma Trautman, Shellane Trautman, Jacob Trautman, Tesla Pitlick, Victoria Slocum, Christa Slocum, Amanda Slocum, Brett Godell, and Heather Kinn; and four great grandchildren, Eric File, Dani Lynn File, Kadi File and Joseph Trautman and one great-grand baby on the way. Other survivors include one brother, Dennis Walton of Wessington; one sister, Debbie Greimann of Somerset, Texas; nine brothers and sisters-in-law, Edmond (Sandy) Trautmann of Madison, Jack Trautman of Rockham, Betty (Roger) Sass of Huron, Vera (John) Ferderer of Huron, Dale Trautman of Eugene, Oregon, Goldie (Dennis) Sterk of Brandon, Jean (Don) Anderson of Parker, Darlene (David) Barber of Rapid City and David (Terri) Trautman of Parker; her mother-in-law, Ruth Trautman of Huron; and many nieces and nephews.
