Collin Janes obituary photoCollin Joseph Janes, age 28, of Watertown, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.  His funeral mass was at 11 AM Monday, March 21st, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Huron with his uncle, Father David Janes and Father Terry Anderson as celebrants.  Private burial of his cremated remains will be held at a later date.  Collin’s final generous act was to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation.  Memorial contributions may be made to the family to establish an educational fund for Collin’s son, Mitchell. 

Collin was born December 7, 1982, at Huron, to Richard and Kathleen Janes.  He attended grade school at St. Martin Catholic School and graduated from Huron High School in 2001.  He attended Mount Marty College and graduated from Mayo School of Radiology, in Rochester, Minnesota.  He was employed by Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown as Radiologic Technologist and PACS administrator.

He married Emily Zimmer, October 1, 2005, in Montrose, South Dakota.

Collin’s interests included computers, hunting, camping, music, Cubs baseball and scouting.  He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in high school.  His joy in life was playing with his son Mitchell. 

He is survived by his wife and his son Mitchell, age 4, of Watertown; his parents of Huron; his sister, Mary (Chad) Kramer of Monroe, Iowa; two brothers, Sam (Karen) Janes, of Huron and Steve (Sandy) Janes of Buffalo, New York; his grandmother, Leitha Janes of Aberdeen; his parents-in-law, Lyle and Mary Lou Zimmer of Humboldt; two sisters-in-law, Marylou (Travis) Nagel of Humboldt, and Victoria (Dan) Wakeman of Brookings; his brother-in-law, Todd (Clara) Price, Sao Paolo, Brazil; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by an infant brother, Mark Aaron, his paternal grandfather, Ivyl Janes, and his maternal grandparents, Arlo and Joseph Melmer.
