Clarence Wipf

Clarence Wipf, age 87, of Huron, died Sunday, February 19, 2012 at SunQuest Healthcare Center.  His funeral service was at 10:30 AM Wednesday, February 22nd, at Bethesda Church with the Rev. Roy Burket officiating.  Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. 

Clarence Wipf was born June 30, 1924, to John B. and Katherine M. (Kleinsasser) Wipf on the family farm near Frankfort, South Dakota.  After finishing his education in county grade school, he began helping his father farm. 

On June 25, 1944, Clarence married Rose Gross at Ebenezer Church near Doland.  They farmed until 1994 when they moved to Huron, South Dakota.   During his early years in Huron, Clarence enjoyed working on building projects with contractor Dan Waldner.  He was a faithful member of the Ebenezer Church near Doland and later the Bethesda Church in Huron.

Clarence and Rose had three children:  Jerry, Dennis and LaDonna.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and enjoyed many special times with his family.  He enjoyed listening to Christian music, playing table games with family and friends and volunteering at his church whenever he could. 

Clarence is survived by his wife of 67 years, Rose of Huron;  two children, Jerry (Cynette) Wipf of Sioux Falls and LaDonna (Larry) Francis of Moscow, Idaho; one daughter-in-law, Judy (Keith Kleinsasser) of Sioux Falls; seven grandchildren, Christine Brummond, Rebecca McDowell, Darin Wipf, Brian Wipf, Heidi Wipf, James Branson and Steven Francis; fourteen great grandchildren, Nolan Wipf, Zack Brummond, Ben Brummond, John McDowell, Isabell McDowell, Mikaela Wipf, Trevor Wipf, Morgan Wipf, Andrew Wipf, Elijah Wipf, Owen Wipf, Silas Wipf, Judah Wipf and Landon Wipf; and two sisters, Ida Daberkow of Lakefield, Minnesota and Ruth McFarland of Denver, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Ernest, Arthur, Albert, Warren, Bertha Pollman, and an infant brother and infant sister; and his beloved son, Dennis.
