Clarence Knudson obituary photoClarence A. Knudson, age 85, of Huron, died Monday, January 1, 2007, at the Huron Nursing Home. His funeral service was at 2 PM on Thursday, January 4th at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with Rev. Jonathan Boehne and Rev. Scott Spiehs officiating. Burial was at the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Clarence Allen Knudson, son of Andrew and Ida (Lundgren) Knudson, was born April 4, 1921, in McCook County, the oldest of five boys. Clarence attended school through eighth grade after which he stayed home to help farm. Clarence married Florine Sanders of Holabird, South Dakota in September 1943. They lived and raised their three children on a farm north of Salem. They moved to Huron in 1970.

In September 1977, Clarence was united in marriage with Marie Beyer of Wolsey. Clarence was employed with Cenex until his retirement.

During his lifetime Clarence enjoyed music, playing mandolin with the Clarino Band, singing with the Silvertones, baking cookies, and playing cards. His love of farming, represented by a large garden, continued long after retirement. Clarence was also a member of the Salem Lutheran Church and currently Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church of Huron.

Honored by having shared his life are his wife, Marie, of Huron; three children, Rev. Donald Knudson and wife, Gloria Swanson, of Rosemount, Minnesota, Janet Stofferahn and husband Lynn, of West Point, Nebraska, Larry Knudson and wife Karen, of Salem; six step-children Larry Ziebart, of Watertown, Marlys Lammert, of Huron, Betty Assimacopoulos and husband Aris, of Sioux Falls, Shirley Haan and husband Jack, of Redfield, Tony Beyer and wife Lori, of Watertown, Tom Beyer and wife Julia, of Maple Grove, Minnesota; six grandchildren; twelve step-grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Ida Knudson; four brothers, Delbert, Burnell, Kenneth, and Merle Knudson; and one step-son, Lonnie Ziebart.
