Carol Schneider

Carol M. Schneider, age 72, of Huron, died Thursday, July 8, 2010, at her home.  Her funeral service was at 11 AM Monday, July 12th at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donald Crippen officiating.  Burial was at 10 AM Monday at Riverside Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to the HRMC Hospice, First United Methodist Church Foundation, or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Carol M. Schneider was born September 24, 1937, at Parkston, South Dakota to William E. and Etta (Treick) Hoff.  She grew up in Tripp and graduated from high school there.  Carol attended Southern State Teachers College for two years and earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Huron College. 

She married Dale Schneider on August 25, 1958, at Friedens Reformed Church in Tripp, South Dakota.  Carol taught elementary school in Sioux Falls for two years, and for 37 years at Hitchcock School.  They moved to Huron in June 1993. 

Reading, working crossword puzzles, and golfing were some of her favorite pastimes.  She also liked music, flowers and travel.  Carol especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities. 

Grateful for having shared in her life are: her husband,  Dale of Huron; her daughter, Sherry (Sam) Holderby of Volga; her grandchildren, Tyler and Samantha Holderby of Volga; her sister, Mary Lou Hoff (Ginny Jones) of Edina, Minnesota; her brother, Bill (Judy) Hoff of Sioux Falls; two nephews, Chad (Jennifer) Hoff of Lincoln, Nebraska and Kyle (Jenna) Hoff of Sioux Falls; and three great-nephews and a great-niece, Nathan, Joshua, Luke, and Anna Hoff. 

Carol’s parents preceded her in death.
