Carol Hall obituary photoCarol Victoria Smith Hall, age 93, a fifty year resident of Huron, died February 9, 2009, of natural causes.   A private graveside service was held May 2nd at Riverside Cemetery.

Carol Victoria Smith was born June 9, 1915, to Victor and Lena (Nierman) Smith at Mansfield, South Dakota.  She received her education at Mansfield. 

On June 11, 1938, Carol married Walter Lewellyn Hall at Watertown.  They lived at Sioux City, Iowa and Brookings before moving to Huron. 

Carol enjoyed cooking, baking, ceramics, golf and playing cards.  She was a member of NARFE and of a three-wheel bicycle group.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Walt; as well as her parents, Victor and Lena Smith; her brother, Archie L. Smith; and three nieces, Sheila, Nadene and Marcia Ann.

Carol is survived by two daughters, Karen L. Hall of Redfield and Holly Jean Hall Ward and her husband, Mac Ward of Green Valley, Arizona; two grandchildren, Heather Ward of Moss Landing, California and Holland M. Ward and his wife, Christine of Boston, Massachusetts; and two great-grandsons, Jackson and Charles Ward of Boston, Massachusetts.  Carol is also survived by five sisters, Dorothy Bierman, Marjorie Wiedebush, LaVaun Peterson, Victoria Perry and Audrey Boshee, all of the Aberdeen area; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Hall of California; two cousins, Hazel Eilers and Leona Peterson, both of Aberdeen; and many nieces and nephews.

Carol had an enduring love of laughter and life.  May those who knew her keep her spirit in your hearts and memories.
