Theodore “Ted” Smits |

|
Theodore Herman Smits was born at Yankton, South Dakota to Theodore and Fannie (DeVries) Smits on March 31, 1946. He graduated from Huron High School and attended two years of college at South Dakota State University. He then served in the United States Air Force, receiving his honorable discharge as a sergeant in 1971. He then worked in California for a short time selling cars before moving to Oregon where he became a restaurateur. He moved back to Huron in 1985 to care for his mother. He worked at Memorial Golf Course, Broadland Creek Golf Course and the Huron Adjustment Training Center, as well as for Automatic Vendors. Some of his interests were golfing, playing pool and computers. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his brother, Darrel Smits of Marion, Illinois; two sisters, Marlene Eining of Napa, California and Judith Smits of Chicago, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
