Russell Thompson was born September 5, 1939, to William and Irene (King) Thompson at Miller. He attended school at Miller. Russell enjoyed riding bulls and broncs in rodeos. On December 23, 1963, Russell married Dianne Quiram at Pipestone, Minnesota. Following their marriage, they made their home in Huron. Russell was the happiest when he was working. He kept busy by putting up hay and collecting scrap iron and treasures. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dianne, on June 26, 1995; three sisters, Bessy Reimer, Verna Mae Reimer and Juletta Bonebrake; two brothers, Dick Thompson and Lester Thompson; one great-granddaughter, Harley Rose Stahl; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Brake. Grateful for having shared in his life are his three children, Vickie Thompson of Huron, Susan Stahl of Huron, and Russell Thompson, Jr. of Huron; six grandchildren, Kyle Thompson, Shandy Stahl, Fawn Stahl, Laker Thompson, Jerricka Thompson and Zach Stahl; three great-grandchildren, Gracee, Olivia and Sophia; five sisters, Norma Yost of Miller, Patty Keckler of Eagle Butte, Bernice Wahlert of Huron, Reva Gross of Huron and Thelma Parker of Rapid City; two sisters-in-law, Jill (Obe) Anderson of Huron and Judy (Michael) Kalahar of Huron; five brothers-in-law, Wally (Sharon) Quiram of Lake Norden, Doug (Deb) Quiram of Aberdeen, Billy Reimer of Huron, Lawrence Bonebrake of Huron and Edwin Yost of Miller; and many nieces and nephews.
