Richard D. Gilchrist was born May 23, 1942, at Watertown to Chester and Dolores (Blatchford) Gilchrist. He grew up in the Iroquois area and attended school in Yale and Iroquois. He married Diana Ibis and they had four children. They lived on a farm in the rural Cavour area. In 1977, they moved to Huron. In 1990, he married Wanda Skrandies. He had resided recently in Chadron, Nebraska. Richard enjoyed driving trucks which he did for over 33 years. Richard was an honorary member of the Pukwana Fire Department. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards. He was preceded in death by his parents and one great-grandson, Cameron Ibis Perkins. Survivors include his children, Mickie Ibis of Murdo, Neal Ibis of Gordon, Nebraska, Curtis Gilchrist of Rushville, Nebraska, and Terry Gilchrist of Sioux Falls; one brother, Joel (Norma) Gilchrist of Huron; one sister, Lynn (Terry) McClain of Keystone, South Dakota; thirteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two step-daughters, Nancy Roberts of Pukwana and Mary Courtney of Ft. Polk, Louisiana.
