Marjorie Tacha
Marjorie Tacha, age 95, of Huron, died Friday, July 30, 2010, at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in Huron. Her funeral service was at 10:30 AM, on Tuesday, August 3rd at the First United Methodist Church in Jennings, Kansas, where she was a member. Marjorie Shearer was born to Glenn and Clara (Hanson) Shearer on May 25, 1915, in rural Jennings, Kansas. She graduated in 1933 from Jennings High School. Marjorie attended Strickler’s Business College in Topeka, Kansas, and worked for the Bureau of Reclamation. Later in Denver, Colorado, she attended Central Business College and worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.
On June 18, 1940, Marjorie married Mathias “Butch” Nusse. Two daughters, Janet and Judith, were born to this union. Butch died August 24, 1942, and the family moved back to Jennings, Kansas, where Marjorie worked in the post office.
On October 6, 1949, Marjorie married Gerald Tacha, and the family moved to Liberal, Kansas. After Gerald died on December 11, 1991, Marjorie lived with each of her daughters until moving into an assisted living facility in Huron and later into the nursing home.
Marjorie was a talented artist, doing oil paintings: portraits, landscapes, and still life. As she grew older, she enjoyed the visits of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister; two husbands; and many other relatives.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her two daughters, Janet (Larry) Zavesky of Huron, and Judith Nusse of Malvern, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Debbie Adams of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Brian (Sasha) Zavesky of Sioux Falls, Dale (BobbiJo) Zavesky and Bruce (Jeanne) Zavesky all of Huron, and Donny (Nikkole) Zavesky of Iroquois; and eleven great-grandchildren.
