Marian Vivian Walter was born December 31, 1924, at Carpenter, South Dakota, to Samuel Jacob and Katie Ruby (Hofer) Walter. She grew up in rural Carpenter and graduated from Doland High School in 1942. Marian furthered her education at Eastern Normal in Madison and at a number of Bible camps. She worked at Fairmont Foods and Valet Dry Cleaners in Huron. Playing the piano was one of her favorite pastimes, which also included embroidery and other crafts, and bingo. She was a member of Bethesda Church. Her parents, her brother Wayne Walter, and her brother-in-law, Melvin Wipf preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Gwendolyn Wipf of Ventura, California; her sister-in-law, Alberta Walter of Buffalo, Minnesota; seven nieces, Kay (Randy) Bauder of Huron, Wendy (Rick) Schryber of Herndon, Virginia, Arlys (Jeff) Moser of Kalispell, Montana, Linda (Steve) Haglund of Buffalo, Minnesota, Melva Hatchard of Ojai, California, Mardel (Doug) Cason of Ojai, California, and Maurine (Dave) Martin of Ventura, California; two nephews, Reg (Jill) Walter of Stevens Point, Wisconsin and Mark (Nancy) Wipf of Ventura, California; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
