Ardeth L. Neuharth

Ardeth Neuharth, age 73, of Wolsey, died Monday, September 8, 2008, at the Huron Regional Medical Center.  Her funeral service was at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 11th at the Wolsey Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Winifred Rinehart officiating.  Burial was in the Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. 

Ardeth Lenore Parker was born December 16, 1934, to Ora and Sylvia (Neeman) Parker at Wessington.  She attended Wessington School, graduating from Wessington High School in 1952.  On November 8, 1953, Ardeth married Vernon Neuharth at the Huron Presbyterian Church.  After their marriage, they lived in Kimball for two months, and then moved to their farm near Wolsey. Ardeth worked at Cub Lunch in Huron for one year.  Ardeth and Vernon have operated their dairy farm for over fifty years. 

Ardeth was active in the Wolsey Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school for over 20 years was a member of the Presbyterian Women, served as a church elder and was on the State Presbytery Council.  She was a member of the Wolsey American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary.  For many years, Ardeth was treasurer for the Beadle County Farm Bureau, clerk for the Vernon Township, and weight recorder for TOPS.  She was Wolsey School Board member for nine years and a member of Cowbelles.

Ardeth collected Holstein cow figurines.  She enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles.  Ardeth and Vernon also raised chickens and turkeys for many years.  Making fried chicken was one of her favorite meals to prepare.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jeffrey in 1963; two brothers, Lloyd Parker and Burton Parker; and three sisters, Ethel Casper, Evelyn Schwartz and Louella Barrows.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Vernon of Wolsey; five children, Don and Lenore Neuharth of Camdenton, Missouri, Larry and Kristi Neuharth of Wolsey, Steve and Vicki Neuharth of Wolsey, Glenda Crandall of Wolsey and Jean and Darrell Wharton of Huron; thirteen grandchildren; Maria Collins, Lindsey Neuharth, Lee Neuharth, Kayla Neuharth, Allen Neuharth, Randy Neuharth, Eric (Tracee) Neuharth, Jason Neuharth, Amanda (Andy) Chipman, Chad Crandall, Brian Crandall, Alex Wharton and Crystal Wharton; four great-grandchildren, Jaden Collins, Dillon Collins, Brailyn Collins and Mayssa Neuharth; and two sisters, Geneva Spelbring of Sioux Falls and Lillian Bartel of Huron.
