Annamarie “Mickey” Brooks

Annamarie “Mickey” Brooks, age 93, of Sioux Falls and formerly of Wolsey and Huron, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at the Sanford USD Medical Center at Sioux Falls.  Her funeral service was at 1:00 PM, Saturday, July 21st at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Marion Cain officiating.  Burial was in the Wolsey Cemetery. 

Annamarie Victoria Christopherson was born March 31, 1919, to Lambert and Lillian Christopherson at Wolsey.  She grew up in Wolsey and graduated from Wolsey High School.  She also received her teaching degree from Northern in Aberdeen.  She taught grade school in Philip and St. Lawrence.

On April 13, 1942, Mickey married Ralph Brooks at Butte, Nebraska.  The family lived in many states while Ralph served for six years in the United States Navy, during World War II.  They also lived in Brookings, Pierre, Wolsey and Huron.

Mickey was a past member of South Dakota Education Association, Gideon’s Auxiliary, Altrusa Club and a member of the First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sons, Scott and Paul; two sisters; and three infant brothers.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her four sons, Jerry (Leslie) Brooks of Bowman, North Dakota, Jim Brooks of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Ralph Brooks, Jr. of Huron and John (Sandy) Brooks of Sioux Falls; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers-in-law, Bill Brooks of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and Gale Sinift of Hawaii.
