Alice Scheibe, age 80, of Huron, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009, at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was at 10 AM Friday, October 30th at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with the Rev. Daniel Domke and the Rev. Jonathan Boehne officiating. Entombment was at the Mausoleum at Restlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Preschool.
Alice Licht was born January 27, 1929, to Martin and Adala (Gogolin) Licht at Wolsey, South Dakota. She graduated from Wolsey High School in 1945.
On August 12, 1951, Alice married Donald Scheibe of Wolsey. They moved to Huron in 1953. Their daughter, Jill was born July 18, 1955, and son, Murray was born May 31, 1958.
Alice was an active member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church where she served as president of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and participated in many other activities.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Don Licht and Jim Licht.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband, Donald Scheibe of Huron; her daughter, Jill and her husband, Patrick Burger of Pierre; her son, Murray and his wife, Veronica of Arlington, Texas; two grandchildren, Mark and his wife, Amy Burger of Sioux Falls and Sarah Burger of Pierre; one great-grandchild, Mackenzie Burger of Sioux Falls; and one sister, Francis Babcock of Bismarck, North Dakota.
