Ada Waldner

Ada Waldner, age 80, died Friday, November 26, 2010, at the Golden Living Center in Redfield.  Her funeral service was at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 2nd, at the Kuhler Funeral Home, with Tom Pickles officiating.  Burial was in the Prairie Bible Church Cemetery.

Ada Waldner was born April 30, 1930, to Peter S. and Rebecca (Hofer) Waldner, in Pleasant View Township, Beadle County, South Dakota.

While growing up on the family farm, Ada’s dad would tell her not to tell her brother, John Rueben about the cookies that had been made that day. Ada would then watch for John Rueben to come home and lead him straight to the cookies.  Ada enjoyed getting dressed up and being with people.

Ada moved to the Redfield State School in 1945 and then lived in various nursing homes after the school closed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, John Rueben Waldner; and two brothers-in-law, Don Reed and Eugene Gilbert.

She is survived by her sister, Sarah Gilbert of Huron; one niece, Pam (Doug) North of Huron; three great nieces, Brenda (Tom) Gausman, Lisa (Rich) Engels and Sara (John) Bovill; one great great niece; and one great great nephew.
