Kathryn Fast obituary photoKathryn Fast, age 90, of Huron, died Saturday, August 24, 2013, at the SunQuest Health Care Center.  Her funeral service was at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, August 28th at the Bethesda Church with the Rev. Roy Burket, officiating.  Burial was in Prairie Bible Church Cemetery. 

Kathryn Hofer was born on March 29, 1923, to John J. K. and Sarah (Tschetter) Hofer on a farm near Hitchcock.

Kathryn was saved on October 20, 1937 and baptized on June 22, 1941.

On August 26, 1945, Kathryn was married to Benjamin Fast by Rev. Joe E. Wipf at the Gospel Rescue Mission at Huron. In 1946, they moved to Alpena. Later to a farm near Hitchcock in 1947. In 1962, Kathryn and Ben moved to a farm near Iroquois where they built a dairy parlor. They sold their farm in August 1970 in which time they moved to Sioux Falls having purchased an apartment complex and in 1978 built Fast Car Wash.

On February 27, 1999, Kathryn married Harry Becker at Sioux Falls and moved to Huron.  She entered SunQuest Health Care Center on February 4, 2010.

Kathryn was an amazing cook and baker.  She loved to feed her family and made delicious German food.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Ben in June 26, 1995 and Harry in December 28, 2012; two daughters, Connie and Carolyn in infancy; one son, Ron Fast; four brothers, John, Leon, Joe and Melvin Hofer; and three sisters; Anna Wyld, Rosie Hofer and Dorothy Wipf.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her four children, Judy Fast of Hartford, Randall (Darlene) Fast of Missoula, Montana, Janet (John) Neuroth of Casper, Wyoming, and Verlyn (Lisa) Fast of Lafayette, Indiana; one daughter-in-law, Sheryl Fast of Sioux Falls; 17 grandchildren, Tammy (Troy) Vink, Tracy (Troy) Folsom, Sarah (Areyman) Gabriel, Kristin (Matthew) Skapyak, Justin Fast, Jody (Keith) Jaques, Joleen Synstelien, Jeff Carstens, Stephanie Fast, Matthew Fast, Lacey (Louis) Prince, Lanae Neuroth, Logan Neuroth, Nathan (Hailey) Fast, Nicholas Fast, Chelsea (Adam) Cornell and Calli Fast; and 19 great-grandchildren, Zackery and Isaac King, Talynn Vink, Ryan Folsom, Jalen, Amoni, Treyvon and Ahvon Gabriel, Madison Skapyak, Ava, Archie and Abby Jaques, Josella, Jozetta, Jonnae and Jesper Synstelien, Carter Carstens, Leila Fast and Kamri Cornell.   She is also survived by three brothers, Herbert (Dee Ann) Hofer of Huron, Allen (Ella Mae) Hofer of Sioux Falls and Eldon (Alie) Hofer of Hitchcock; three sisters, Alma Hofer, Edna (Solomon) Tschetter, Beverly (Gary) Frankenstein, all of Huron; and several sisters-in-law.
