Betty Sass obituary photoBetty Mae Sass, age 68, of Huron, died Friday, April 3, 2015, at her home.  Her funeral service was at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 10th, at the Huron Christian Church with Rev. Brad Korell, officiating.  Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery at Fairfax.

Betty Mae Trautman was born August 15, 1946, to John E. and Ruth L. (McGeorge) Trautman at Fairfax, South Dakota.  She graduated from Humboldt High School.

On December 20, 1980, Betty married Roger L. Sass at Wolsey.  In 1983 they moved to Iroquois and later moved to Huron.  Betty worked at Wilbrecht, Inc. and Violet Tschetter Memorial Home for many years.

Betty enjoyed crocheting, making blankets, towels, hats, and slippers for family and friends.  She cherished her time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Martha McCauley; a brother, Bill Trautman; a grandson, Gary Lee Paye; a brother-in-law, Don Anderson; a sister-in-law, Connie Trautman; two nephews, Chad Anderson and Mark Trautman; and two nieces, Jennifer and Angela Anderson.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her husband, Roger of Huron; seven children, Dan Munce, Laura McKown, Casey (Starla) McKown, James McKown, Amy Sass, Shawn (Tammy) Sass, and Shellane Trautman; special friend, Mary Black; ten grandchildren, Darin (Melissa) Munce, Nathan Munce, Anthony McKown, Brooke Lynn McKown-Fawcett, Shantell McKown, Andrew McKown, Angel McKown, Jessie James McKown, Anna Sass, and Joseph Trautman; seven great-grandchildren; four sisters, Vera (John) Ferderer, Goldie (Dennis) Sterk, Jean Anderson, and Darlene Barber; five brothers, Edmond (Sandy) Trautman, Jack Trautman, Richard Trautman, Dale Trautman, and David (Terri) Trautman; and many nieces and nephews.
